The beloved local performing arts theater, The Maltz Theatre, located just a few hundred feet from the beach in Jupiter is upgrading itself. Matltz has been in Jupiter around for decades and its new plans for an expansion to its campus will greatly improve it.
The proposal for the $25-$30 million expansion to the theatre was approved by Jupiter Town Council last October. The expansion project includes details like a much bigger stage and conservatory that will be twice the size they currently are. The rest of 2016 and 2017 the Maltz Theatre has been in its “quiet phase of fundraising” for its expansion. Just hits week, the local Jupiter Theatre announced the public launch of its "Believe" campaign, which, over the next couple of seasons will raise the funds they need for the expansion. The reps from the Maltz Theatre have said their expansion process will be completed in stages but they are hoping to have the improvements complete by November of 2019.
“With attendance at an all-time high, our success has confirmed a positive trend at our Theatre: the need to grow. Now, we need the public’s help to make our dream of expansion a reality,” Andrew Kato, producing artistic director and chief executive of Maltz, said in a statement. Since the theatre has had some of the best years in its existence with amazing performances and major turnouts, its time for the expansion. Currently, The Maltz can seat 617 people and that intimate feel will not be changed, according to executives of the theatre. "The intimacy has worked for us," Kato told Jupiter Magazine last fall. "It is one of the elements that make our theater so attractive."
