Living in Jupiter is a pleasure and knowing your kids can get a stellar education is a bonus!  Palm Beach County has some of the best high schools in the nation according to recently released data from NEWSWEEK magazine’s “America’s Best High School 2012” list!   To compile the list of the top high schools in America, editors reached out to principals, administrators, and superintendents across the country.  Data was complied for the 2,300 schools over the 2010-2011 academic school years.  

Based on the standards set forth by the National Governors Association, Suncoast High School placed 9th on “America’s Best High School 2012” list.  Suncoast High School has been consistently ranked in the top ten nationally ranked high schools for the past five years. Awards include 2010 Magnet School of Excellence, Magnet School of Distinction.  Suncoast is the home of 5 Pathfinder Award Winners and a 5 Star School Award, as well an “A” rated school by the State of Florida. Students who have graduated from Suncoast have been accepted to all top Florida colleges and universities, Ivy League schools, and other top rated universities and military academies. 

The Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of Arts is a premiere arts high school which took the 37th spot on the “America’s Best High School 2012” list.  Admission to the high school is based upon a highly competitive audition process that is open to all students entering grades nine through twelve.   Various conservatories to choose from include: arts,   dance, communications, music, vocal, digital media, and visual arts.  Dreyfoos offers a rigorous college preparatory academic curriculum along with “pre-professional instruction in the communication, performing, or visual arts”

Graduates are regularly admitted to the nation’s finest colleges and conservatories including Boston University, Brown University, Duke University, Harvard University, The Julliard University, New York University, University of Florida, and Yale University.

Palm Beach County offers parents fantastic opportunities to get their children into the public school magnet/academy programs offered in the high schools.  Programs vary from finance, interdisciplinary baccalaureate, global business and entrepreneurship, mathematics, science and engineering, pre-law and criminal justice, sports management, visual performing, television production, etc…  Magnet or academy programs are open to qualifying students from a broad geographic area and meet admission criteria. Check with the local school guidance counselor for and take advantage of the opportunities that are available!
