Eleven baseball teams from throughout the Southeast United States and the Bahamas will be descending on Palm Beach Gardens this week for a regional baseball tournament. Starting Thursday and running through the weekend, the tournament will be held at the Gardens Park ball fields near city hall.

Expected to draw hundreds of players, coaches, and parents to the area during the traditionally slow summer season, the regional 12-and-under tournament is one of the many baseball and softball events the city of Palm Beach Gardens hosts annually.

Teams participating in the 12-and-under tournament include teams from Florida's Suwannee and Manatee counties and the host Palm Beach Gardens All Stars. Other teams competing include teams from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Alabama, Tennessee, and the Bahamas.

The winner of the double elimination tournament will advance to the Cal Ripken 12-and-under World Series in Aberdeen, Maryland August 10-19.
