Riverbend Park
Riverbend is a 680 acre preserve Park in Jupiter. Riverbend Park has quaint bridges, cypress-lined ponds, shady pine forests, magnificent old live oak trees, a historic battlefield, and resident peacocks. They are all part of the lovely landscape that makes Riverbend Park a delightful place to explore.
This Palm Beach County park is particularly fine for a family bicycling outing. It is also the starting point for the outstanding canoe or kayak trip down the Loxahatchee River. Canoe Outfitters rents boats and bicycles for the Loxahatchee trips.
There is no shortage of wildlife at Riverbend Park, native birds are plentiful, including wild turkeys. Armadillos, white-tailed deer, as well as woodpeckers and wading birds can all be spotted on the grounds.
Riverbend Park is criss-crossed with hard-packed shell trails designed to be shared by hikers and bicyclists. The equestrian trails afford a more natural surface. Pack a picnic and enjoy the chickee hut shelters scattered throughout the park. It is a theme you will see reflected throughout the park—lots of chickee thatch kiosks, plenty of signs, and big chickee huts. The Seminole theme pays homage to the historical and archeological significance of this site. This is sacred ground, with a Seminole encampment, and an open green field recalling the Battle of the Loxahatchee, January 24, 1838, when Federal troops attempted to remove the Seminole from this region to the west.
Riverbend Park’s trails are all scenic, with many passing through shady woods and all of them providing views across marshes, ponds and rivers.
