Senior Tennis Championships Coming to Palm Beach Gardens
The International Tennis Federation's Seniors World Championships will be coming to Palm Beach County next spring with four of the eight venues located in Palm Beach Gardens. Final agreements have not been signed yet for the two week tournament, but the website for the International Tennis Federation notes that tennis clubs in Palm Beach Gardens are confirmed venues.
Scheduled for April 21 through May 4 2014, the tournament will bring about 1,600 players from 38 countries to Palm Beach County and is expected to generate as much as $2.5 million is economic activity for the county. In addition to the financial benefits, the tournament will attract international media coverage that would promote Palm Beach Gardens and Palm Beach County as a tennis destination.
The International Tennis Federation's Seniors World Championships will include world team championships and individual championships. The team competition will take place April 21-26 with individual championships being held the following week.
The Seniors World Championships is considered the highest ranked event in the Seniors Circuit and will return to Florida for the first time since 2002 when it was held in Fort Lauderdale.
