South Florida has quickly organized to set up a number of efficient testing centers throughout the area. If you or a loved one is ill and you think you may have Covid-19, you will first have to book an appointment over the phone by calling into one of the following testing sites.

You will be asked about the following symptoms:

  • Older adults and people who have severe underlying chronic medical conditions who have fever, cough or any type of respiratory distress.

  • Any people — including health care workers — who within 14 days of symptom onset had contact with a suspected or confirmed coronavirus patient.

  • Any people with history of travel from an affected area or an area with community spread.

Testing Centers

Here are the main South Florida testing centers

Delray Beach

The second drive-thru test site in Palm Beach County opens at the South County Civic Center, 16700 Jog Road at 8 a.m. April 7. Pre-approval and an appointment are required, which can be made by calling 561-804-0252, starting at 10 a.m. April 6. After the first day, phone lines will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Anyone experiencing symptoms can call for screening interview. Testing and scheduling will be done by Cleveland Clinic Weston, through a new partnership between the hospital, county and Florida Division of Emergency Management. The site will have 2,000 test kits, with 1,000 more on the way. Officials said they plan to test 250 people at the site per day, although may do fewer tests in the first few days of its opening.

Miami Gardens

The state of Florida drive-thru testing site in the east parking lot at Hard Rock Stadium, 347 Don Shula Drive, Miami Gardens, is open Mondays through Fridays from 9 a.m. until resources run out for the day. Results take about three to five days to get back. Criteria is that patients be 65 and older or a first responder or health care provider, have a temperature of 99.6 degrees or higher, and have COVID-19 symptoms or show signs of respiratory distress, according to a spokesperson for the Florida National Guard.

Lauderhill

Broward Health is hosting the second drive-thru testing site in Broward County, which opens Wednesday, April 8 at Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium, located at 3700 N.W. 11th Place in Lauderhill. To be tested, patients must have a written script by a physician and then call the Broward Health line at (954) 320-5730 to register. Those who don’t have a primary care physician can get a virtual health screening on Broward Health’s new BHealthy Now app. To register for a BHealthy Now virtual screening, visit BrowardHealth.org/COVIDApp for instructions on how to download the app and connect with physicians. The app can also be downloaded directly from the app store by searching for “Amwell”. To find the Broward Health COVID practice, enter the service key “BROWARD” during or after enrollment. When you come to the testing site for your swab, make sure to bring a photo ID, the written prescription for COVID-19 testing and your appointment registration. Test results will be sent to the prescribing physician, who will then alert the patient of their status.

Pembroke Pines

Memorial Healthcare, the Florida National Guard and the Florida Department of Health staff a multi-lane mobile coronavirus test site at C.B. Smith Park’s park-and-ride lot, 900 N. Flamingo Road, Pembroke Pines. Patients must be in a car and carrying valid ID, and they will be screened at the entrance. The site is open 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Priority will be given to health care workers, first responders and people 65 and older who are showing symptoms of the new coronavirus. Make a reservation at 954-276-4680.
