South Florida Supports “Movember” 2019
People in the South Florida have always had a thing for health and wellness. “Movember” is an annual event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of men's health issues, such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men's emotional health. The purpose of this annual event is to raise awareness around men’s health.
The term “Movember” is a hybrid of the Australian-English diminutive word for moustache, "mo", and "November". For clarification purposes the “MovembeFoundation” focuses on men's health, and “NoShavember” is aimed at fighting cancer, regardless of sex. “Movember” is its own separate thing, with its own separate rules, and activism.
Founded in 2003 by two men, Travis Garone and Luke Slattery, from Melbourne, Australia. The “Movember Foundation” has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world. Their mission has been to challenge the status quo, shaking up men’s health research and transforming the way health services reach and support men.
