Many residents of Southeast Florida are anticipating a stimulus check. Who will receive a check?  A Person earning up to $75,000 in adjusted gross income and who has a valid Social Security number will receive a $1,200 payment. That also indicates married couples, filing joint tax returns, will receive the full payment of $2,400 if their reported adjusted gross income is under $150,000. Parents will also receive $500 for each qualifying child.  You must earn at least $2,500 to qualify for the payments.

Note that the payment steadily declines for those persons make more than the outlined amount. Those earning more than $99,000, or $198,000 for joint filers, will not be eligible. The upper limits are a little different for those who file as “head of household”.

Most taxpayers won’t have to do anything to receive the government stimulus check. The money will be directly deposited into your bank account if the government has that information on file from your tax return. If you haven’t filed your 2019 taxes, the government will use information from your previous 2018 tax return.  That information will be used to calculate your payment and determine where to send the check. Your Social Security benefit statement may be used as a point of reference as well.
