David is a city in Broward County just twenty-five miles north of Miami. Prior to European colonization, the Tequesta were the native people of what is now Davie. Campsites and graves have been found in Davie, the oldest dating back 5,000 to 7,000 years. The landscape and terrain were, and still is, ideal for plants, including orchids.

Live orchids and orchid photography are on display through an exhibit at Flamingo Gardens until May 8, 2022. Flamingo Gardens is located at 3750 South Flamingo Road, Davie. Diverse varieties of live orchids are placed among the lush tropical foliage of the attraction. The photography exhibit includes the work of orchid photographer Tom Kuligowski.
