Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens, Delray Beach, has been a center for Japanese art and culture in South Florida since opening in 1977. Morikami invites guests to discover South Florida’s history and connection with Japan, and explore a series of six diverse gardens, each inspired by a different historical period and style of Japanese gardening.

Visitors experience traditional and contemporary Japanese culture through engaging exhibits, varied educational programs and seasonal events, a world-class bonsai display, Pan-Asian cuisine, and a distinctive museum store. Make a wish for the Star Festival, Tanabata! Write your wish on a strip of colored paper, or tanzaku, and tie it to a branch of the Tanabata bamboo to celebrate at the Morikami Museum, located at 4000 Morikami Park Road, Delray Beach. Since its opening in 1977, the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens, 4000 Morikami Park Road in Delray Beach, has been a center for Japanese arts and culture in South Florida, with alternating expositions in its galleries. Tea ceremonies are performed monthly in the Seishinan ceremonial tea house.  Japanese long-established festivals are commemorated for the public several times a year.

The Morikami Museum Collection houses over 5,000 Japanese art objects and artifacts.  Within the collection is a 500-piece collection of customary tea ceremony items. More than 200 textile pieces and recent fine art acquisitions, as well as 200 acres that surround the Morikami museum buildings.

Beginning Sunday, November 22, 2020 through Sunday, December 20, 2020 the  Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens, 4000 Morikami Park Road, Delray Beach, will host an Art of Bonsai class.  Bonsai is a captivating art-form that combines horticultural techniques and Asian aesthetics in a distinctive way. The art originated within the Chinese empire and was copied and modified by the Japanese to what we know now as Bonsai trees. Literally translated "bon-sai" means "planted in a container".
