The 60th anniversary season of the Palm Beach Opera opened Saturday night with a performance of Henry Purcell’s "Dido and Aeneas”.

Palm Beach Opera’s first-ever outdoor festival, February 19 – 27, 2021, features a star-studded cast of live performances. See performances of iconic operas such as: La Bohème, Pagliacci, and Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute) at the South Florida Fairgrounds’ iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre, located at 601-7 Sansbury Way, West Palm Beach.

The performances will feature international opera performers as well as the Palm Beach Opera Orchestra and Chorus. All performances will feature socially distanced singers, orchestra, and chorus members, as well as large screens to display close-ups of the performance. A wide range of different cuisines and beverages purchased at the amphitheater throughout the event.

This November, Society of the Four Arts will be showing Marnie, broadcasted live from the Metropolitan Opera in New York City.

With music written by Nico Muhly and libretto by Nicholas Wright, Marnie is a gripping reimagining of Winston Graham’s novel, set in the 1950s, about a beautiful young woman who assumes multiple identities. Director Michael Mayer has devised a fast-moving, cinematic world for this exhilarating story of denial and deceit. Mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard sings Marnie, and baritone Christopher Maltman is the man who pursues her — with disastrous results, as Robert Spano conducts.

Run time is 3 hours and 17 minutes with one intermission, and tickets are $25 online.
