Plant sales are presented by the nonprofit, Friends of the Mounts Botanical Garden. Sponsored in part by The Board of County Commissioners, the Tourist Development Council, and the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County. Mangroves are magic to our ecosystems. Three species of mangroves are found in Palm Beach County. They are the Red Mangrove, Black Mangrove, and White Mangrove. Typically, Red Mangroves grow along the water's edge, Black Mangroves grow on slightly higher elevations than the Red Mangrove, and White Mangroves grow upland from the red and black. Mangroves line estuaries and canals, providing food, shelter, and hunting grounds for animals.

Mangroves also provide shoreline protection from wind, waves, and erosion. This ecosystem occurs in tidally influenced areas where strong ocean wave action is absent and where salt and freshwater mix. Soils are sandy, nutrient-rich, saline, and usually oxygen deficient. Mounts Botanical Gardens, 531 North Military Trail, in West Palm Beach reopened Tuesday, June 16, 2020.  The 14-acre wonderland will operate at 50% capacity with only 100 people at a time allowed inside.  It is Palm Beach County's oldest and largest public garden with plants from six continents.

Mounts features over 2,000 species of tropical and subtropical plants including plants native to Florida, exotic trees, tropical fruit, herbs, citrus trees, and a variety of palms. Mounts Botanical Garden of Palm Beach County offers all sorts of flora to discover. Themed areas, referred to as gardens, include a butterfly garden, a Mediterranean garden, and a tropical forest.
