Red snapper anglers from Southeast Florida must be elated south of Jupiter up the coastline to Jacksonville. Each year, NOAA Fisheries announces the season-opening dates for red snapper in federal waters of the South Atlantic Ocean and the recreational season length.

Federal fishery managers announced last week that they would get a two-day recreational fishing season in 2022. Red snapper anglers in the Atlantic Ocean will have a chance to bring home one snapper per person with no size limit.

The recreational sector will open for harvest on the following 2 days, July 8 and 9, 2022. The recreational season opens at 12:01 a.m., on July 8, 2022, and closes at 12:01 a.m., on July 10, 2022.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is requesting help from anglers, spearfishers, and charter captains to report information about the Atlantic red snapper fishery.

On July 23rd, 2018, NOAA Fisheries announced a final rule for Amendment 23 to the Fishery Management Plan for the Snapper-Grouper Fishery of the South Atlantic Region. Recreational Atlantic red snapper season will open for harvest in Atlantic federal waters (beyond 3 nautical miles from shore) on weekends only (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) on the following days:
