What better place to harvest solar energy than the sunny SoFlo coast? Florida Power & Light Co. is going greener by switching to solar energy and the Treasure Coast is the perfect location for solar facilities.

FPL is finishing up construction of 5 large-scale solar plants in Indian River, St. Lucie and Martin counties. Two in Indian River and two in St. Lucie are finished with the last base in Martin County to be built out west soon.

Upon the 1.5 million panel completion, 30% of FPL's solar power will come from this 3% of the population area. The company found that there's a lot of remote open space on the interior of these counties and land purchases are benefiting farmers and local government.

Solar panels are efficient offering clean energy, and the plants are unmanned and virtually silent. Rather than relying on nuclear and gas, FPL is utilizing our sunny skies to create a greener earth with their solar panel project.
