MacArthur Beach State Park
Located in North Palm Beach, MacArthur Beach State Park is the only state park in Palm Beach County. It is comprised of gorgeous beaches spanning almost two miles, which also allows swimming, snorkeling, and fishing in crystal clear waters. There is also a Nature & Welcome Center, Beach Outfitter Gift Shop, Kayak Rentals, a children’s playground, nature trails, and more. Throughout the year, there are many Special Events for the kids, including guided adventures, Summer Camps, Under Moonlight Concerts, and children’s programs.
Palm Beach Gardens Aquatics Complex
The Palm Beach Gardens Aquatics Center is a great place to take the kids, as it caters to kids of all age groups. In recent years, a spray playground has been implemented, which offers several slides, “umbrella water trees,” and more. For the older kids, there is a competitive-size pool with an adult slide and diving boards. On certain days throughout the year, such as Family Fridays, there is music to enjoy, as well as people in costumes dressed as sharks and other marine life. Seating is plentiful, with lots of chairs and lounges to sit on, making the trip just as enjoyable for adults as it is for children.
Book Exchange
If your child is into reading, then Book Exchange is the place to go. Here, they offer over 100,000 used books of all genres, many of which are 50% off the cover price. There is a well-stocked children’s book section featuring a variety of Disney books, as well as some of the most popular books out today. For comic book fans, the latest comics are out every Wednesday, and there are also boxes filled with classics. For kids into collecting, superhero collectible statues are also available for sale. The staff at the Book Exchange is known for being very friendly and helpful.
Downtown at the Gardens
Downtown at the Gardens, a great place to keep the kids entertained, is only a short drive away from North Palm Beach. They offer a carousel operating throughout the day, as well as a train that travels throughout the Downtown complex. There is also Cool Beans, which is an indoor playground that all kids love. The great thing about Cool Beans is that it has its own café and internet connection, which makes it very convenient for parents to sit and relax while their own older children play. Kids also love stopping at Sloan’s, located downstairs from the movie theater. Sloan’s offers a wide variety of ice cream and yogurt, as well as specialty desserts like brownies and banana sundaes.
