Keep Our Beaches Clean!
GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO DO A GOOD DEED!  It is time for the monthly beach clean-up…Please join Lynne Wells and her group of Blue Friends Society on Saturday, March 16th, 2013 at 8:00am – 9:00am at the back gate of the Loggerhead Marinelife Center.  This is a perfect opportunity to keep our beautiful Juno beaches and ocean environments clean.  The clean-up lasts one hour and it is open to everyone who is interested.  Following the one hour clean up, volunteers are invited to join for a light refreshments sponsored by Whole Foods Market in Palm Beach Gardens. Please help keep the beach that the turtles call “home” free from liter and debris.

Loggerhead Marinelife Center, located in Juno Beach, is one of 12 sea turtle rehabilitation facilities in the state of Florida. The turtle patients are transported to LMC under the direction of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservations Commission.  Approximately 50-60 sea turtles and over 1,000 hatchlings are cared for at the center each year.

March 1st through October 31st is official sea turtle nesting season in Palm Beach County. Loggerhead Marine Life Center patrols 11 miles of beach between John D. MacArthur State Park and the Palm Beach/Martin County Line in Stuart.  Sea Turtles bury their nests deep enough not to be affected by routine beach activity.  There are approximately 100 eggs per nest with an average 60-day incubation period.  Occasionally, beach erosion can expose a nest. If the eggs are not hatched, rotated and exposed to the elements, it can often cause the eggs to stop developing. Human contact is unnecessary; it may cause stress and exchange unwanted bacteria.

Please join members of the Waterfront Properties and Club Communities team support the coastal clean-up this weekend and stop by the Loggerhead Marinelife Center located at 14200 U.S. Highway One, Juno Beach, Florida 33408 or call 561-627-8280 for more information on sea turtles.  Your support matters!
