VICE PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE 2012 JOE BIDEN and PAUL RYAN
With just 25 days to go in the campaign, and lots of people having made up their mind, President Obama and Romney’s running mates had their work cut out for them. In a spirited debate Joe Biden and Paul Ryan discussed social policy, economy, and America’s place in the world.
The majority of analysis of the vice presidential debate split the slugfest right down the middle, with neither side dominating the debate. Democrats thought Joe Biden’s dominating style and aggressive tone put a much needed win in the Presidents column. Republicans saw Biden’s laughing and interjecting as rude and disconcerting.
It is unclear as to who won the debate and perhaps it was not the intention of the candidates. Could it have been that the intention of Mr. Biden to show constituents, at the age of 69 years, he still has plenty of fight and momentum? Perhaps Mr. Ryan intended to keep his cool, for he looks much younger than his age of 42 years. Both men were confident and well versed on issues. Biden has already been vice president for nearly four years and has age working in his favor. He was strong and confident. Ryan was a new face to many Americans just two months ago. He is an intellectual leader, associated with foreign policy and Middle East strategy – exhibited a cool confidence.
