Waterfront Properties Walk for Diabetes

Thousands of people participated in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation 2013 West Palm Beach Walk to Cure Diabetes on Saturday, March 2, 2013. Waterfront Properties and Club Communities, corporate offices located in Jupiter, FL, sponsored a team to help raise funds and awareness to worthwhile cause. The disease has afflicted members of the Waterfront family. They have witnessed the struggles of multiple insulin injections, carbohydrate counting, food monitoring, high and low blood sugar episodes.

The goal of supporting the Waterfront walk team was to push the bar to eradicate the disease that affects millions of children each year. All the funds aid in research, treatment and prevention efforts. The goal for this local chapter of JDRF was $230,000. Typically, Type 1 diabetes usually shows up in children between the ages of 1 to 3 years.

And so, with the loyal support of 45 “Waterfront Walkers”, in matching corporate t-shirts, a cohesive group gathered at the Meyer Amphitheatre, West Palm Beach. A “sea of turtles” (the Waterfront logo on all the t-shirts) set off to walk for a cure on a chilly South Florida morning.

Waterfront Properties is pleased say “thank you” to all who supported our efforts in raising awareness and funds to JDRF. It is an honor to be named the Top Team of 2013 Walk to Cure Diabetes West Palm Beach.

Over 2,000 participants tried to keep warm in the crisp and sunny 59-degree morning. It was a wonderful turnout for the event, indicating a hopeful year for fundraising in the fight for juvenile diabetes!
