Wellington Bacon and Bourbon Fest begins March 23 – 25, 2018. Venture out of the usual weekend activities on a culinary journey on the welcoming grounds of the new Wellington Community Center and Amphitheater, 12150 Forest Hill Blvd, Wellington.  Socialize with friends and enjoy America’s quintessential bourbon and eat excellent bacon inspired dishes.

What is bourbon exactly? Simply put, bourbon is a spirit made from at least 51% corn aged in new charred oak barrels.  It must be bottled at 80% or more and only in the United States of America. The use of the term "bourbon" for the whiskey has been traced to the 1820s, and the term began to be used consistently in Kentucky in the 1870s.  Bourbon may be made anywhere in the United States and is associated with the South, particularly Kentucky.  Kentuckians like to think only the best bourbons are made in their state, but with the expansion of American craft distilleries, bourbon is being made everywhere from New York to California.

The three-day event will allow you to sample over 40 bourbons, paired with bacon infused delicacies while enjoying live music, artist and crafters. The leading bourbon connoisseurs in South Florida will expand on the distiller's art and patient techniques during tastings and seminars. Increase your knowledge of the process of making American bourbon and whiskey. A few tidbits about Irish whiskey or rye will also be discussed. A limited number of fine wines and ice-cold beers will also be available.
