WGC-Match Play Bracket Set

For the past week, we have known the 64 golfers that were going to compete in this year's edition of the WGC-Cadillac Match Play Championship. We now know the bracket and opening round matchups as well.

Top seeded Rory Mcllroy will start his Match Play on Wednesday against Jason Dufner. The other two players in the group headlined by the Palm Beach Gardens resident and World #1 are Billy Horschel and Brandt Snedeker. World #2 and reigning Masters winner Jordan Spieth finds himself in a group with Old Palm resident Lee Westwood, Matt Every, and Mikko Ilonen.

Group 11 could be considered the toughest group top to bottom, featuring Jimmy Walker, Ian Poulter, Webb Simpson, and Gary Woodland.

This year is the first year for the Match Play under the new rules. Unlike in years past, it is no longer single elimination out of the gate. Instead, the first three days will be a round robin format with each golfer playing the other in the group once. Whoever finishes with the best record in the group will advance to the round of 16 with the Group 1 winner facing off against the Group 16 winner, Group 2 winner vs Group 15 winner, etc. The round of 16 will be held Saturday morning, with the quarterfinals taking place Satruday afternoon. The semifinals and championship matches will then be held on Sunday.

The WGC-Cadillac Match Play gets underway Wednesday. Below are all 16 groups and the competitors in each group:
