What Is Happening In Jupiter Inlet Village

Several changes and additions are coming to the Jupiter are over the next several months and year. The area of Jupiter Inlet Village that stretches from A1A and Jupiter Beach Road all the way north to the Jupiter Lighthouse will see several renovation projects and new additions over the next several years. Here is a look at what is happening in the area.

(2) US Highway 1 Drawbridge Restoration- The Florida Department of Transportation project will provide maintenance for the mechanical equipment, as well as restore the existing bridge house and add a pedestrian walkway. Construction is expected to begin on this project in 2015.

(3) Jupiter Inlet Restaurant (formerly Brix restaurant)- An application has been submitted to renovate the existing structure to provide outdoor seating, second floor office space, transient boat slips, and the Riverwalk. If approved, the renovation and construction process would begin at the end of 2013.

(4) Jupiter Inlet Marina (formerly Seasport Marina)- The main building of the marina is currently under construction and is expected in be completed in December of 2013.

(5) Love Street and A1A Property- A proposal has been submitted for the 4 acre site, including the existing surface lot, to be turned into a 4-acre commercial development area that will include a pedestrian-friendly "Main street" promenade. Site development applications are expected to be submitted later this month.

(6) PaJas Motel- The hotel recently closed as it has been sold to an investor and is scheduled to be demolished sometime over the summer.

(7) Guanabanas Restaurant Expansion- Guanabanas is expanding their existing location to include a kitchen and restrooms that will serve both the restaurant and the public. Construction began July 1 and is expected to be completed in December 2013.

(8) The Historic Suni Sands Boathouse- Permits are being prepared to reconstruct the boathouse, should any more damage to it occur. Permits from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection take approximately 8 to 12 months.

(9) Kempe Property (A1A and Saturn Street)- The proposal is for an area that includes office, restaurant, retail, and six residential units. The proposal is scheduled to go before the town council on August 20.

(10) Lighthouse Cove Mini Golf- A mini golf course is coming to the Jupiter area. Construction began on the mini golf course in June and is expected to be completed in December.

(11) Parkway Street Parking Garage- The public garage will provide approximately 800 parking spaces available for lease by the businesses within the Inlet Village. Final approvals for the garage will be made in October or November.

(12) Maltz Theater Expansion- The theatre is adding 19 seats and modifying the existing restrooms. Construction is expected to be completed in the fall.

(13) A1A Bridge Replacement at Carlin Park- The project will replace the short span bridge on the section of A1A along Carlin park, just south of Indiantown Road. A1A will be closed to traffic during the months of April, May, and June of 2014 for the bridge replacement.
