Palm Beach’s oldest, and most famous shopping and dining area has been named to the national top 20 Iconic Streets list according to 10best.com.

A division of USA Today, the site is hosting “a contest to name the American street that best combines history and a strong sense of place while reflecting its unique location in the country”.

Worth Avenue on Palm Beach was designed and built in the early 1920s by architect Addison Mizner. He built Worth Avenue shortly after designing several buildings on the street’s western end, including the Everglades Club. The Mediterranean-style buildings with small enclaves of restaurants and shops became known around the world as “the Palm Beach look”.

Some of the other streets to make the list include Calle Ocho and Ocean Drive in Miami as well as some of the most famous streets in the country including Fifth Avenue in New York, Beale Street in Memphis, and Rodeo Drive in California.
