Youth Driven Cinema Film Festival
Come support our local children and teens practicing the art of filmmaking. The first event of its kind in Martin County, the Youth Driven Cinema Film Festival will feature short films created by local kids about Florida's endangered ecosystems.Â
Over the past few months, the Environmental Studies Center and Council announced the creation of the film contest and festival, asking Martin County kids grades K-12 to make a video with the theme "Spread the Word, Florida's Ecosystems Need Our Help." Student filmmakers gathered in teams of four to find ways to portray environmental issues as well as ways to fix these problems.Â
Their movies will be presented at the Youth Driven Cinema Film Festival on Saturday, April 13th at the Lyric Theatre in Stuart. The top 5 films will be selected by viewers at the event and awards will be given at the end.Â
The mission of the Youth Driven Cinema is to educate and engage the youth of the area by fostering community involvement within the arts and sciences. Show your support for these student artists and their message by attending the film festival this weekend in downtown Stuart.
Come a little early and check out the waterfront downtown area complete with lots of shops, restaurants and parks. Grab a bite to eat at the Boathouse or Sailor's Return before the show at 6 p.m.
