Posted by Brittany Bosher on Tuesday, December 5th, 2017 at 2:00pm.

A holiday-time event that is unique to Southern Florida is the Boat Parade. All throughout southern Florida’s waterways local boat owners decorate their vessels with millions of lights to celebrate the holiday season. The glistening boats line up and parade throughout the waterways for local spectators to watch. This year is the 45
th Annual Boynton Beach Boat Parade.

The parade will begin on Friday, December 8th at 6:00pm. “This flotilla of brightly-decorated boats will line up at the Lantana Bridge near Old Key Lime House and motor south along the Intracoastal Waterway to the C-15 canal in Delray. The event at the Boynton Harbor Marina starts at 6:00 pm with live music setting the stage for the parade to start at 6:30 pm. Other viewing areas are located at Intracoastal Park and along the parade route.” For guests looking to join the Boat Parade’s events and activities the city just asks for each family to bring one new, unwrapped toy to support Toys for Tots.

The approximate times to reach the Delray Beach bridges are as follows:

George Bush Blvd. Bridge 7:15 p.m.
Atlantic Avenue Bridge 7:30 p.m.
Linton Blvd. Bridge 7:45 p.m.

The bridges will be manned by Police on both sides of the bridges for vehicle and pedestrian control. The bridges will stay in the upright position for the boats to pass through. The bridges will open as necessary for the return trip going north.
