With the final few days of June remaining, the 4th of July is right around the corner. July 4th is a time for everyone to come to together and celebrate America. The City of Boynton Beach offers an exhibit of kinetic art by 17 talented sculptors through the end of 2021. The free display is geared to really “move” you!  You will be in awe of these fascinating mobile works of art. This exhibit is located along 100 East Ocean Avenue in Boynton Beach and includes three permanent, fixed sculptures.   

Pick up your self-guided tour maps available at the City Hall lobby. There is also an outdoor exhibit map in Town Square in Downtown Boynton Beach.  Kinetic art is defined as art, such as sculpture or collection, having mechanical parts which can be set into motion. This is a unique kinetic art experience with indoor and outdoor kinetic artworks, interactive installations, art, technology displays.

For two days, Boynton Beach transforms into the ultimate Haunted Pirate Fest and Mermaid Splash. All are invited to attend the event this Saturday, October 26th and Sunday, October 27th.

The fun filled event will feature pirate re-enactments, mermaids, street performers, character appearances from Captain Jack, live mermaid tanks, and live music and entertainment. The popular event is free and open to the public.

There will also be a Hook and Tails Costume Contest for the best pirate and best mermaid costumes, acrobats, interactive pirate ships, children’s shows, treasure hunts and much more.

A holiday-time event that is unique to Southern Florida is the Boat Parade. All throughout southern Florida’s waterways local boat owners decorate their vessels with millions of lights to celebrate the holiday season. The glistening boats line up and parade throughout the waterways for local spectators to watch. This year is the 45th Annual Boynton Beach Boat Parade. 

The parade will begin on Friday, December 8th at 6:00pm. “This flotilla of brightly-decorated boats will line up at the Lantana Bridge near Old Key Lime House and motor south along the Intracoastal Waterway to the C-15 canal in Delray. Every first Friday of the month at the Ocean Avenue Amphitheatre will be “Movie in the Park” night. Make sure to bring your blankets and picnic chairs to watch a movie under the stars with your friends and family. 

The event is free for everyone and you are welcomed to bring your own food and drink, but food, snacks and beverages will be available for sale as well. “The Boynton Beach CRA will also hold a free drawing with prizes consisting of gift certificates to some of the local restaurants and businesses.”

Veterans Day is a day celebrating and honoring anyone who has served in the United States military. The notable holiday’s origin began as a day to memorize the end of World War I and those who served in it. At the time the day was known as Armistice Day and it was then declared a holiday by President Woodrow Wilson in 1919. It did not become known as Veteran’s Day until 1954.
