Kooky Halloween

The Town of Jupiter is hosting their annual Kooky Halloween event on October 30th. Dress up in your best costume for a night of family fun and a flashlight “Egg Haunt”! The Jupiter Community Center will be filled with fun games, bounce houses, music and prizes. This event is free, but don’t forget to BYOB (bring your own bag) to trick-or-treat a night early!

Do you have a kid or loved one looking to go to college in South Florida? One Floridian university will take a little extra work to get into. 

The University of Miami, in Miami-Dade County, took the number one spot for the most difficult and elite university to attend by Niche.com. Niche did a report that ranked each university in each state of the United States based on difficulty to get in. 

Niche did an evaluation of the schools based on a database of 2,245 schools. The schools were both public and private, but all of them were traditional four-year college and universities. Niche weighed their acceptance rate and SAT/ACT scores together to come up with an average score and a rank for difficulty to get into for an applicant.

Get ready for the 24th Annual Wellington Golf Classic that will be benefitting the Neil S. Hirsh Family Boys and Girls Club of Wellington, Florida. On October 10, 2015 the golf tournament will be held at the Wanderers Golf and Country Club.

The first weekend in October, brought a bit of a cool front to our South Florida waters and while the Bluewater Babes Fish for a Cure tournament was scheduled many captains said, it couldn’t of been better conditions for a fishing tournament. The sun was blazing and cool breeze was at our backs!

The past weekend was amazing at the 2015 Bluewater Babes event that was at Sailfish Marina on Singer Island, Florida. Everyone who was able to participate in the community really worked hard and all the money raised goes to the local breast cancer research and its patients. Bluewater Babes continues to be overwhelmed by the outpouring of support for this tournament and with the added help, together we all made an even bigger difference.

The Spady Cultural Heritage Museum is a beautiful and charming, non-profit organization in Delray Beach, Florida. The museum is offering its first “Ride & Remember” Trolley Tour for 2015 to 2016 season. The first trolley tour will take place this Saturday, October 10th. 

The monthly tours will take place on the second Saturday of each month. With the historic trolleys and important history, The Spady Cultural Museum will make Delray Beach history come alive. The tour guides will share stories of the personalities, events and places that shaped this beautiful beachside city. Guests will tour the Spady Museum, take a trip through five historic districts and disembark at select historic sites for an up-close look.

The Village of Tequesta has organized a community relief effort to assist those who have been affect by Hurricane Joaquin in the Bahamas. Only 55 nautical miles away, the Bahamas is a top destination for many people in the area. Many residents have strong ties to the Bahamas and are looking for ways to help.

The southern islands of the Bahamas have an immediate need for supplies. The Village of Tequesta will be collecting supplies to send to the hardest hit areas of the Bahamas. A local Bahamian Representative has provided a list of the most needed items.

This is a great way for our community to come together to help our neighbors to the East!

More than 1,600 students each year join or partake in the Art Council of Martin County.  The Art Council of Martin County provides a wide variety of programs that benefit the community through the arts.  The Council believes that educating the youth of the community about art is vitally important to their creativity and thusly strengthening their leadership skills and aiding their academic development. 

The Art Council also joins forces with the Martin Memorial Hospital and encourages of the advantages of art helping heal hearts, minds, and bodies.  They have assisted Alzheimer’s patients, along with arts therapists, in the adult care program.
