The West Palm Beach GreenMarket, 101 South Flagler Drive, West Palm Beach, is celebrating its 27th season. This season the farmers market begins with national recognition. The GreenMarket was named the #1 farmers market in the United States by USA TODAY. It is the only Florida market included in the Top 20!

The 2021-2022 season is the largest GreenMarket in history. There are an added thirty new vendors, raising the total vendor count to 100. The GreenMarket opened almost thirty years ago. Here is a simple cranberry sauce that is quick and simple just in the nick of time for Thanksgiving dinner. Southeast Florida is very well known for its abundance of citrus groves. This cranberry sauce has a unique citrus zest.  Just simmer fresh cranberries, sugar, orange zest, and a cinnamon stick together until slightly thickened.

Ingredients:

- Two 8-ounce packages of cranberries, fresh or frozen

- 1 orange, zest cut into strips, and juiced

- 1/2 cup sugar

 - 1 cinnamon stick

Directions:

Put all the ingredients into a saucepan over medium heat and simmer until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens about 15 to 20 minutes. Serve at room temperature or cool and refrigerate. Remove the cinnamon stick before serving.

The weather in Southeast Florida during the Thanksgiving holiday is so beautiful that keeping time spent in the kitchen down to a minimal amount is imperative.  Here is a simple appetizer to prepare for your guests to enjoy while the turkey cooks. 

Cranberry Brie Bites

Ingredients:

1 (8-oz.) tube crescent dough

Cooking spray, for pan

Flour, for surface

1 (8-oz.) wheel of brie

1/2 c. whole berry cranberry sauce

1/4 c. chopped pecans

6 sprigs of rosemary, cut into 1" pieces.

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375° and grease a mini muffin tin with cooking spray. On a lightly floured surface, roll out crescent dough, and pinch together seams. Cut into 24 squares. Place squares into muffin tin slots.

The Abacoa Green Market, organized and started by restauranteur Ryan Witkowski, owner of Stadium Grill, kicked off at the beginning of October.  The Abacoa Green Market is a wonderful farmers' market held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The green market is every Wednesday at the Abacoa Amphitheatre in Jupiter.

Thanksgiving turkey giveaway this Sunday to benefit kids and local families in need. The free event kicks off at 9 a.m. and ends when the last turkey is gone. With a bumpy economy and the coronavirus pandemic still looming, one West Palm Beach company wants to make 2021 a year to remember, instead of one to forget. And it’ll do it with the help of some local heroes. 

In the first of two holiday initiatives, Safebound Moving & Storage is giving away 500 turkeys on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. to feed families in need this Thanksgiving.
