One of the biggest sporting events in Palm Beach County is upon us again, this time with a new sponsor. What has been "The Honda Classic" for years, and was temporarily referred to as "The Classic in the Palm Beaches", is now "The Cognizant Classic". Starting on Wednesday (Feb 28th), PGA National plays host to the only PGA Tour event in South Florida. With the shakeup that has been going on in professional golf, many people are wondering who's playing in the 2024 Cognizant Classic. Here's a list of some notable pros who are confirmed for the tournament.

Homecoming Week for the Professional Golfers Who Call Palm Beach County Home

Palm Beach County was turned into a golf Mecca by some of the game's biggest names: Woods, Nicklaus, Fazio, Norman, and Ross. Jupiter and Palm Beach Gardens alone consistently attract some of the world's top golfers, so for many of this week's contestants, it's Homecoming time. PGA National is in the heart of golf-land in Palm Beach Gardens. Some of the big names in golf course communities surround PGA National: Ballenisles, Mirasol, Old Palm, Old Marsh, Frenchman's, Bears Club, Admirals Cove, Jonathan's Landing, and the world-famous Seminole Golf Club. And Panther National is coming. In addition to Palm Beach County, Martin County is set to become yet another hot spot with some new projects joining the local staples, like Medalist, which was featured in season 1 of Netflix's Full Swing.

Florida boasts the most golf courses in the country, with more than 1,250, and Palm Beach County leads with the highest number of any county. This abundance ensures golfers have unparalleled access to high-quality facilities for practice and leisure. Florida's famous weather allows year-round golfing, an essential factor for professionals who need to maintain their skills regardless of the season. The presence of top golfers in the area creates an environment that fosters community and competitive excellence. Plus, there's always the subtle factor: the absence of state taxes in Florida provides a financial incentive for high-earning athletes looking to maximize their earnings.
