Palm Beach County A Hot Spot For State Football Recruiters
According to the Palm Beach Post, state college football teams recruit most of their star players from Palm Beach County high schools.
The University of Florida, Florida State, and University of Miami all have powerhouse athletic programs any parent would be thrilled to send their aspiring football star to, but it's even more appealing that all of these schools have stellar academic standards and aren't too far from home in the Palm Beaches. Now that FAU, UCF, and USF have been building promising programs as well, the career opportunities for local players are expanding even more.
The Miami Dolphins even take part in preparing local youth for the business side of football. This past Saturday, over 100 South Florida high school football teams attended Miami Dolphins High School Media Day at Hard Rock Stadium. Each team had the opportunity to hold a “mini” press conference with members of the local and national media in order to help the athletes get experience speaking in front of a camera and on record before they get into college. This event gives them that exposure in a safer and more secure environment.
So far, multiple offers from state schools have been made to Palm Beach County players. Two players have committed to Florida State (both on Post’s Big Board, one being a four-star prospect and the other being a five-star prospect), and four players have committed to the FAU Owls. So far no players are committed to UF, UM, UCF, or USF – yet.
Wellington’s Mark-Antony Richards explained the underlying motivation in Palm Beach County’s programs. He said being from this area where major programs get top players inspires him to be a better player.
