Boca Raton’s beloved art celebration, Festival of the Arts Boca, is right around the corner and its kickoff party is happening this Thursday. The Festival of the Arts Boca offers its guests and fellow art enthusiasts 11 days of film screenings, jazz, symphonic concerts, lectures and readings. 

The Thursday night kickoff will feature a renowned writer, Jennifer Egan. Egan specializes in both fiction and non-fiction literary works. She is most known for her episodic, rock-and-roll-set, Pulitzer-winning 2010 novel “A Visit From the Goon Squad,” as well as her award-winning reporting for the New York Times. She’ll discuss her occasional tightrope walking between these not-so-opposing worlds of writing in her Festival of the Arts lecture, titled

A timeless tradition filled with the spirit of the holiday is the famous Nutcracker Ballet. Coming to Boca Raton this weekend is Tchaikovsky’s classic ballet performed in a way that resumes to mesmerize audiences. 

The Nutcracker is a classic holiday story about the Nutcracker Prince, a mischievous Mouse King and a beautiful Sugarplum Fairy. This year two dancers from the American Ballet Theatre perform the main characters. Watch the magic unfold in the form of dance and incredible orchestra music. Veteran’s Day is upon us and it is a day to celebrate all of those who have fought for our country. “The Veterans Day National Committee recognizes select Veterans Day observances throughout the country that represent fitting tributes to America’s heroes serve as models for other communities to follow in planning their own observances.”

For those who love fitness in the community and love being outdoors, you should try a Saturday at Sandborn Square in Boca Raton! Every Saturday at the Sanborn are free fitness classes that are open to the public.

Sandborn Square is a picturesque park with manicured landscaping, lush green spaces and lined with tall Royal palms. Classes you will find offered at the park include yoga, capoeira that is a Brazilian martial art, and more. The classes typically begin at 9am and then there will be another following at 10:30am. Bring your own yoga mat, a towel and some bottles of water, as the summer months get warm in southern Florida.

Make your way out to the famous Mizner Park in Boca Raton for a night of music, dancing and summer fun at Boca Raton’s Summer in the City. Happening this Friday, June 10th at 7:30pm is a free musical evening put on by the city of Boca Raton. 

It is guaranteed to be an enchanting evening beneath the stars with music performed by The Symphonia Strings. The band will play hits ranging from: Tchaikovsky, Elgar, Dvorak and Mozart's famous Eine Kleine Nacht Music.
