Florida Atlantic University is presenting Neil Simon’s Brighton Beach Memoirs from Friday, June 17, 2022, through Saturday, June 25, 2022. Brighton Beach Memoirs is centered on the relatable angst of growing up. The plays are in the Marleen Forkas Studio One Theatre and the big band concert is in the Kaye Auditorium of the Student Union, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus.

FAU Theatre Lab, in Boca Raton, is presenting a performance entitled “To Fall in Love”, November 20 – December 12, 2021.  Scientists claim that anyone can fall in love, simply by asking and honestly answering a specific series of 36 personal questions followed by four minutes of uninterrupted eye contact. What if the goal is to fall in love again, now what?  This entertaining play will be performed live at the FAU Theatre Lab.

The Galleries of Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton started their exhibition season with “Under the Florida Sun: South Florida Cultural Consortium Visual & Media Artists Fellowship,” on view until October 10, 2021. Florida Atlantic University just received a gift of $3.8 million worth of fine art. The charitable gift from Attorneys Rick Stone and wife Lesley Blackner includes 17 paintings, with works by Henri Matisse, Edward Willis Redfield, David Park, and John Henry Twachtman.

The paintings will comprise the “Rick and Lesley Stone Art Collection”, and will be on display at the Ritter Art Gallery on FAU’s Boca Raton campus.

The Stones also provided additional support for the establishment of an art history teaching laboratory in the Ritter Gallery, which will provide college students with the opportunity to study art up close.

Florida Atlantic University’s rock climbing center has opened an outdoor climbing center.  It is located at the north end of the campus in Boca Raton, 777 Glades Road.  It is open to the public Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons. 

Rock climbing is an activity in which partakers climb up, down or across natural rock formations or artificial rock walls. The goal is to reach the summit of a natural or artificial formation. The idea is to reach this point of an outlined predetermine route without falling.

Rock climbing is a physically and mentally challenging sport.  A climber must possess strength, agility, stamina, as well as balance. Focus and mental control are essential for a successful climb.  Sport climbing focuses on the physical…

The Florida Atlantic University football team is chalking up last week’s loss in Oklahoma as a learning experience, and fans are flocking to the FAU Stadium in Boca Raton tomorrow for the first home game of the season. Head coach Lane Kiffin has announced the team will be wearing all red, and asks that fans do the same.

 

The hometown heroes will be playing Air Force, and it will be the first meeting between the two teams. If the Owls win this game, it would be the program’s 88th win, and it will extend FAU’s home win streak to eight.

 

The first FAU football home game of the 2018 season is Saturday, September 8th at 2:00 pm at FAU stadium in Boca Raton versus Air Force. It will be aired live on FOX Television, as well as on ESPN West…

Florida Atlantic University is off to an exciting start this year, which has conjured an eager following throughout Palm Beach County. The anticipated 2018 season for the promising team has student tickets sold out and locals filling entire planes to attend away games. Even those who can’t travel are flocking to sports bars to watch Lane Kiffin’s Owls play Oklahoma this Saturday. In true Palm Beach County fashion, FAU has decided to give back to the heroes in our community with the “Seats For Heroes” program.

In Boca Raton, the FAU Owls went from weeks of enduring an intense training camp, to an open scrimmage this past Saturday, to the well-attended preseason Meet & Greet on Sunday with passionate fans of these Palm Beach County football stars.

In 2017, then new head coach Lane Kiffin led FAU to a 11-3 record (up from a 3-9 record in 2016), with his team scoring more touchdowns than all but four programs nationwide. Over the final 10 games, FAU performed as one of the best teams in the country, and star running back Devin Singletary impressed fans as one of the most talented players that season.

Florida Atlantic University's Jupiter Lifelong Learning Society is devoted to elevating the intellectual and social lives of mature learners by “offering stimulating educational opportunities, taught by outstanding university faculty and guest lecturers, designed to broaden students' understanding of diverse cultural, societal, scientific and global issues.”

Each year more than 70 courses are taught by FAU professors and distinguished guest lecturers, in topics including foreign policy, music, art, history, science, literature, philosophy, current events, films and many others, along with concerts and entertainment.
