Florida Atlantic University’s rock climbing center has opened an outdoor climbing center.  It is located at the north end of the campus in Boca Raton, 777 Glades Road.  It is open to the public Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons.

Rock climbing is an activity in which partakers climb up, down or across natural rock formations or artificial rock walls. The goal is to reach the summit of a natural or artificial formation. The idea is to reach this point of an outlined predetermine route without falling.

Rock climbing is a physically and mentally challenging sport.  A climber must possess strength, agility, stamina, as well as balance. Focus and mental control are essential for a successful climb.  Sport climbing focuses on the physical intensity of the expedition.  General rock climbing encompasses the holistic experience and the mental game that accompanies a climb.

FAU climbing takes place at the far north west corner of campus, behind the track.  They have a 35-foot rock wall and a “bouldering shack” that is used for climbing. The climbing center is open to the public Wednesday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Member of the climbing club encourage newcomers to succeed.  Give this a try – rock on!
