Beginning on June 16th, 2017, West Palm Beach artist Rene Gibson undertook a project the entire sportfishing and art community has been watching intensely since then. Starting with adorning a single Swarovski Crystal to the tip of the marlin bill, Gibson meticulously placed over 100,000 crystals to create the most brilliantly glistening full-sized taxidermy marlin you will ever see.

Throughout the two-year process, Gibson shared her progress on Instagram for enthusiastic fans, and on June 29th, 2019, Gibson let her daughter place the very last crystal to complete this beautiful piece of art.

March 3rd through 11th marks the 5th Annual Plein Air Festival at the Lighthouse Art Center. “Plein Air” painting simply stands for the art of painting outdoors amongst the fresh air. The aim of the artists is to capture their surrounding environment, the nature, wildlife and ambience of the natural environment that surrounds them. 

With the theme of the “plein air” technique, the Plein Air Art Festival offers guests a weekend of relaxation, art, beautiful weather and fun. More than 40 artists will be displaying their works of art. These artists come from all over the nation to compete in this multi-day juried exhibition.
