Ricky Skaggs
It will be a toe-tapping good time when 15-time Grammy Award winner Ricky Skaggs and his band, Kentucky Thunder, returns. Skaggs, whose music spans the country music spectrum from bluegrass to gospel to mainstream, is a multi-talented musician who plays the mandolin, fiddle, mandocaster and banjo. For his Lyric show, he and the band will perform songs from his long and illustrious career, including “Sis Draper,” “Return to Sender” and “Road to Spencer.”

Yakov Smirnoff
When Yakov Maumovich Pokhis emigrated to the United Stated from the Soviet Union, he took jobs bartending at resorts in the Catskills. When he decided to do stand-up comedy, he took his American name from the vodka popular at the resort. Yakov Smirnoff returns with comedy about the very messy business of being human.

Lewis Black, stand-up comedian, actor and author, seemed destined from his birth to be angry and easily irritated by the life around him. The irascible Mr. Black is widely considered one of the best and most popular performers working today, and he performs more than 200 shows a year around the world. His passion for the absurdities of life gives voice to his audiences’ frustrations and it’s been said that he yells so that they don’t have to.

Jay and the Americans were one of the original blue-eyed soul groups, although many fans may not know that this popular group almost had to go through life as Binky Jones and the Americans.

The Manhattan Transfer
They’ve always been known as the epitome of cool. The Manhattan Transfer, with its harmonies and versatility that incorporates a variety of genres from pop to rock to jazz, R & B and rock ‘n roll, swing, symphonic and a cappella music, has been hard to pigeon-hole, and they like it that way. They were the first group to win Grammy Awards in the pop and jazz categories in one year, for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with vocal for “Boy from New York City” and Best Jazz Performance by a Duo or Group for “Until I Met You.” Their 1985 album, Vocalese, made Grammy history as the most-nominated album in one year with 12 nominations. The album featured Dizzy Gillespie, Ron Carter and the County Basie Orchestra, and changed the perception of The Manhattan Transfer from huge pop artists to formidable jazz singers.

The Lyric Theater
The Lyric Theater, located in historic downtown Stuart, is host to plays, musicals, and also showcases big name talent. Built in the 1920s as a silent movie house, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This grand old theatre represents a colorful history in the community as a central gathering place for young and old alike. The Lyric Theatre seats 500 and features whisper-perfect acoustics. It is host to a variety of events, ranging from classical theatre to rock and country bands, orchestra and jazz concerts, dance recitals, and school programs, as well as movies.
