We have a little cold front coming through South Florida. Some may think that's a good excuse forĀ skipping the gym. But working out in the cold, jogging and (if you can bear it) swimming, is actually very good for you and studies have shown that being outside in cold weather can transform white fat, specifically belly and thigh fat, into calorie-burning beige or brown fat. Brown fat's purpose is to burn calories to generate heat. Brown fat is often referred to as the "good" fat because it helps to burn rather than store calories.

So, if you live in South Florida, don’t hibernate in the cold, get outside and exercise!
