Jonathan Dickinson State Park just north of Jupiter, in Hobe Sound, is a natural wildlife park worthy of exploring with the entire family.  The park offers two full facility campgrounds and a youth/group simple campground.  The park itself rests several miles off the coastal shores of South Florida.  Almost 11,500 acres of land and Loxahatchee River host thirteen ecological communities from swamps to pine flatwoods, a “biological community so rare it is designated “globally imperiled”.

The park offers incredible views from a 124-foot observation tower overlooking the forest, the Intracoastal Waterway and the sparkling blue Atlantic Ocean.

Its that time of year again, Girl Scout Cookies are available for sale! This week marks the start for Girl Scout cookie sales throughout Palm Beach Gardens and neighboring cities in Palm Beach County. Don’t miss out on your chance to scoop up your favorites flavors, because this year’s sales period will be shorter than years past. Cookie sales begin this week and will continue through February. 

The local goal for Girl Scouts of Palm Beach County is to sell over 1.5 million boxes this year. We all recognize the celebrated cookies and adorable Girl Scouts who sell them with philanthropy and a good cause. The fun and thrilling South Florida Fair is coming town this weekend and will be here throughout the rest of the month. The south Florida Fair is located out near Wellington, is one of the biggest events to hit south Florida and it has been long celebrated as a favorite pastime for kids and adults alike.

The Palm Beach Opera season will begin mid-January and end in early April on Mainstage Opera at the Kravis Center, West Palm Beach.  Opening night, January 22, 2016, at the Opera: "Carmen!"

The South Florida Science Center and Aquarium  and Bricks 4 Kidz would like to make youth camps, interesting classes and other fun events  readily available to the northern Palm Beach County Area.  The proposed new center will be in the Town of Jupiter’s Abacoa Community.

The West Palm Beach based not for profit has leased 2,000 square feet in Abacoa’s retail and restaurant expanse formally known as Abacoa Town Center.  The newly renovated downtown is a family friendly and date appropriate venue.  The relaxed atmosphere is perfect for place to unwind or somewhere to relax with the family, there is something for everyone.

It is that time of year again and the one of the most celebrated art festivals is coming to Delray Beach January 23rd and 24th. The 27th Annual Downtown Delray Beach Festival of the Arts has always found itself on the list of “Best Art Affairs in the U.S.” by Sunshine Artist Magazine. The festival is known for its incredible variety and broad spectrum of art it showcases. The Stuart Boat Show is the largest on the Treasure Coast and features a huge display of boats in-water and on land. Many boat brands are represented at the show, including the latest models of motor yachts, cruisers, center consoles, speedboats, sport fishing boats, and pontoons ranging in size from 12 feet to over 80 feet in length.

The show will feature over 190 local, national and international exhibitors. The Allianz Championship last week announced that the 2015 edition of the event at Broken Sound Golf Club in Boca Raton raised over $600,000 with just over $400,000 of that being donated to the Boca Raton Regional Hospital.

The hospital, which is the primary beneficiary of the Aliianz, has received over $1 million in the 10 years since the event moved to the Boca Raton area.

“Not only have proceeds from the Allianz Championship supported our mission in a material way,” said Jerry Fedele, President and CEO of the Hospital, “but we have also benefitted from the publicity the Allianz generates and the genuine interest the Champions Tour players have shown in our clinical capabilities and the services we provide to our patients.”

NOAA Fisheries Announces New Regulations for Dolphin, Wahoo and Snapper Grouper. Bottom line, you need to leave skin on your fillets when bringing fish back to Florida from the Bahamas.  The final rule implementing Amendment 7 to the Fishery Management Plan for the Dolphin Wahoo Fishery of the Atlantic and Amendment 33 to the Fishery Management Plan for the Snapper-Grouper Fishery of the South Atlantic Region (Dolphin, Wahoo Amendment 7 and Snapper-Grouper Amendment 33) published on December 28, 2015 (80 FR 80686). Regulations will be effective on January 27, 2016.
