Historic Downtown Stuart claimed the 7th annual "Great Places in Florida" award hosted by the state's chapter of the American Planning Association. 

The American Planning Association praised Downtown Stuart for its ongoing evolution, including projects like, transforming the downtown area and restoring it to its former 1920s glory, enhancing thoroughfares on Osceola Street and Flagler Avenue to support exposure of local businesses and the beautification efforts including artistic crosswalks, installation of sculptures, increased parking, new outside dining areas and additional shade trees.

Calling all space fans, get excited because Mars is going to be close to Earth. Today, Tuesday, October 6th, Mars will come the closest to Earth and it will not happen again until 2035 according to NASA.

Known as the Mars Close Approach, the event happens every two years and follows Earth and Mars. Normally the distance between the two is 38.6 million miles. Today, the closest distance will be 33.9 million miles away from Earth. When Mars, Earth, and the sun become aligned, Mars will be visible for much of the night in the southern sky and will be at its highest point around midnight according to NASA.

Downtown Palm Beach Gardens is bringing back their outdoor concert series on Friday and Saturday nights this October. The weekly concerts are free, and everyone is welcomed to attend. The outdoor concerts feature a diverse musical lineup of regional and local bands playing everything from country, pop, jazz, rock, and everything in between. Another great city to explore is Stuart, Florida. Stuart is a city located on the water in Martin County, just north of Jupiter. The city is located on Florida’s southeast Atlantic coast.

This October, the Friends of Jupiter Beach’s annual Food and Wine Festival will still go on but this year, the festival is going virtual. The festival will celebrate the non-profit organization through video presentations from local chefs and bartenders.

The Food and Wine Festival is scheduled to begin at 4 pm on Saturday, October 17th. The event will highlight some food offerings in the area while celebrating the Friends of Jupiter Beach’s mission. Some of the restaurants participating in the virtual event include Café Chardonnay, Tommy Bahama, Leftovers Café, and Copper’s Hawk.
