This past week, The Marine Industries Association of Palm Beach County hosted the 26th Annual Palm Beach Holiday Boat Parade and Toy Drive to spread cheer to over 250,000 spectators on December 5th. The parade made its way up the Intracoastal Waterway from North Palm Beach to the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse. Toys were collected along the parade route by a fleet of volunteer boats, many of which carried uniformed Marines.

Toys for Tots and Little Smiles are reporting that 5,500 toys were collected the night of the parade. Members of the community also made numerous monetary donations online, which will all go towards toy purchases for Toys for Tots and Little Smiles.

This weekend, three holiday boat parades are taking place throughout Palm Beach County. Boats will be decorated in holiday lights and decoration while blasting holiday music to get everyone into the holiday spirit.

Lake Clarke Shores:

The boat parade starts at 7 pm this Saturday. Head to Lake Clarkes Shores for the 21st annual Lake Clarke Christmas Boat Parade. Those who attend are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy for the Little Smiles toy collection drop box. The parade will begin at the lake and head north and turn around and come back to end in the same spot.

Throughout the month of December, Rosemary Square, formally CityPlace, in West Palm Beach hosts daily holiday activities for the whole family to enjoy.  Every night the outdoor shopping and lifestyle center hosts a Nightly Snowfall and Lightshow event to bring a little snow and holiday cheer to South Florida.

Every Sunday during the month of December, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center is hosting their reoccurring Hammock Hike. The Hammock Hike consists of an entirely outdoor excursion into the coastal hammock habitat near the sea turtle research and rehabilitation center.

The program will cover and discuss the importance of these coastal ecosystems, explain and identify plants and animals, and the hike will end with an incredible view of the Atlantic Ocean. The hike is led by on of the Loggerhead Marinelife Center’s experienced biologists.

All ages are welcomed to attend the Hammock Hike. The event is an outdoor walking excursion and lasts approximately 45 minutes.

Downtown Palm Beach Gardens is hosting a Holiday Tree Celebration throughout the month of December. The outdoor shopping and lifestyle center invites you to come see the holiday trees and decorations in partnership with local charities scattered throughout the center.

Participating shops and restaurants located throughout Downtown Palm Beach Gardens have paired off against each other and local organizations and non-profits to compete for the best holiday tree. The trees are decorated in each participating shop and the public is welcomed to come and vote for your favorite tree in support of local non-profits. The winning non-profit’s tree will receive a $1,000 dollar donation from Downtown Palm Beach Gardens.

Every Thursday morning throughout the month of December, The Loggerhead Marinelife Center hosts a weekly ArtSea Kids Paint Class. The program is hosted outdoors at the sea turtle research and rehabilitation center.

Sign the kids up for this Thursday, December 10th class. Participants will be able to participate in a story time with an ocean conservation theme and will be able to paint their own ceramic ocean friend that they will be able to take home with them at the end of the program.

The ArtSea Kids Painting Class is recommended for children ages three to eight and costs $10 dollars per painter. The program is hosted outdoors under a canopy, so come dressed for the weather.

Every month, Downtown Abacoa hosts their Food Truck Invasion along Town Center Drive in Jupiter. Come out and taste some of the best food from some of the best Food Trucks in South Florida.

The event happens on the second Friday of every month and rows of food trucks line the streets selling their most popular dishes.  The food trucks offer everything from pastries, Mexican food, seafood, burgers, pizza, ice cream, specialty dishes, and much more.

The Food Truck Invasion is free to attend with food and beverage purchases and there will be a DJ performing at the Abacoa Amphitheater. Bring your own chairs, blankets and even tables to sit out and enjoy the music and food.
