For the second straight year, and the third time in his career, Bernhard Langer won the season long Charles Schwab Cup on the Champions Tour. 

The Boca Raton resident entered the final tournament of the season third in points, but after a playoff loss to Billy Andrade in the Charles Schwab Cup Championship, Langer easily won the Schwab Cup, beating out Colin Montgomerie and Jeff Maggert by almost 400 points. 

"Obviously, my goal was to win the overall Schwab Cup, this trophy here, coming into this tournament," Langer said.

With players receiving a point for every $500 in the $2.5 million tournament, Langer earned 508 points with his $254,000 check to earn the $1 million bonus for the season long championship.

Lee Trevino and the late Payne Stewart were amongst the seven golfers inducted in the PGA of America Hall of Fame Thursday at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens. The induction ceremony was the culmination of the PGA of America's annual meetings that began Tuesday. 

Trevino is a six time major winner, including two U.S. Opens, two PGA Championships, and two Open Championships. Trevino also played on six Ryder Cup teams spanning three decades, posting a 17-7-6 record, and served as captain in 1985. Trevino has also been quite the philanthropist in his lifetime. On Tuesday, Sports Illustrated announced that Jack Nicklaus would be the latest recipient of the prestigious Muhammad Ali Legacy award. The 2016 edition of the Rules of Golf was released on Monday and the their were four major changes made, all with the same theme: simplicity.

In addition to the official addition of the putter anchor ban, which was first announced in May of 2013, three more significan changes were made to the 2016 edition put out by the R&A and the USGA.

“We continually look at ways we can improve and clarify the Rules of Golf,” said David Rickman, the R&A’s executive director of rules and equipment standards. “The R&A and the USGA collaborate closely and we consult with our respective national and international advisory members to produce a code of rules that is relevant to all golfers around the world.”
