IN EARLY 1900’s JUPITER KIDS RODE A SCHOOLBUS BOAT

The population of the Jupiter area was 145. In 1905 Reverend Dr. Charles P. Jackson started an elementary school for the children of Neptune (Jupiter).  Neptune was the designation for the area and the post office along the Florida East Coast Railroad.   Lighthouse keeper, James Armour, opened the Jupiter Post Office during 1884.  After three years of inactivity, Mary Moore Carlin reopened the Post Office in 1887 at the Jupiter Lifesaving Station, where her husband, Charles Carlin was the keeper.

The good people of this area converted a lifeboat from the battleship U.S.S. Maine and it served as a “school bus” for the children.  Later a ferry service across the Loxahatchee River transported the children until a bridge replaced it in 1911 when a…

SUNSET CELEBRATION at SAILFISH MARINA

Sailfish Marina, located at 96 Lake Drive in West Palm Beach, will be hosting one of the premiere arts and crafts shows in the Palm Beaches this and every Thursday.  Nestled in the beautiful tropical setting you will find blown glass, wooden sculptures, pottery, gold and silver jewelry and much, much more.   Over 35 artists come from as far away as Seattle, Washington.  It has something for everyone.

NEW FISHING PIER

The last portion of the U.S. Route 1 Bridge over the Loxahatchee River in Jupiter FL, which is a favorite spot for snorkelers and once the location of a scene on national television show, is expected to be demolished this fall and replaced with an aluminum decked fishing pier.

The concrete bridge off of U.S. 1 that was built in 1927, allowed motorists to drive on U.S. 1 from Juno Beach to Hobe Sound. The middle section of that bridge was torn out when the new twice as tall U.S. 1 drawbridge opened in 1958. The section of the old bridge on the north side of the Loxahatchee River was torn down in 2010, leaving only a chunk of the South section, which has been used as a fishing bridge ever since.

JUPITER – A COASTAL WAY OF LIFE

2014 STRONG SUMMER BUYING SEASON

According to a report released Tuesday by the Realtors Association of the Palm Beaches the number of single family homes sold last month countywide was 1,636.  That number of sold homes was equal with May 2014, but 21percent higher than the same time last year in 2013.

Statewide, Florida has seen an increase of 5 percent in the median price for a single family home, up from 2013 and an increase of 3 percent from May 2014.  The volume of sales last month was 23,181, a 15 percent annual increase and 1 percent higher than May 2014.

June 2014 marked the 31st  consecutive month in which sale prices rose statewide on an annual measure for both single-family homes and condominiums.

IVANA TRUMP’S PALM BEACH ESTATE SOLD $16.6 MILLION

 According to the recorded deed, Concha Marina, Ivana Trump’s landmarked oceanfront Palm Beach estate sold last week for $16.6 million dollars. She purchased the home 20 years ago, after her split from ex-husband Donald Trump. 

Mrs. Trump paid $4.4 million for the house in 1994; two years after her divorce became final.

The home is a magnificent Addison Mizner estate with many of the original details intact.  Mr. Mizner was an American resort architect whose Mediterranean and Spanish Colonial Revival style interpretations left an "indelible stamp on South Florida" and continues to inspire architects to present day.
