The Town of Jupiter and the Village of Tequesta are nestled between Palm Beach Gardens and Stuart. Both areas cater to the outdoor style, as they wrap around the Loxahatchee River and Intracoastal Waterway, which provide incomparable views to residents. For this reason, water sports and boating are abundant. Jupiter and Tequesta also offer their share of championship golf courses and pristine beaches frequented often under consistently sunny skies.

Recently the Palm Beach Post announced the winners of their latest Reader’s Choice Award for top Brunch Spots in Palm Beach County.  The top five restaurants cover the quaint Village of Tequesta to West Palm Beach.

Top on the list is Ocean Bleu, a neighborhood bistro in Tequesta.  Locally inspired dishes are created by Turkish Chef and Owner,  Levent Yurdatap. Yurdatap previously worked at private country clubs, including prestigious Admirals Cove, prior to opening Ocean Bleu.  A signature on the brunch menu is “Millionaires Bacon”.  He prepares it himself very slowly over night.  Initially he cuts a “slab of bacon into extra thick slices and spreads them out on wire racks that are set atop baking sheets. In the United States, over 266 million people have cell phones. While it is hard to imagine Florida life without it, you increase the risk of having an accident by 400% every time you use your cell phone when driving. If it is necessary, use a Bluetooth earpiece or other hands-free device.

Florida has passed the “Florida Ban on Texting While Driving Law”.  Drivers can still use phones for music, navigation apps, or to pick up a call as long as a hands-free device is then used. The current Florida texting law is limited to secondary enforcement, meaning another offense must be observed in order to stop and cite an offender. The law also states you can still text or email when you are stopped at a red light. The property located at 16133 Jupiter Farms Road in Jupiter has a lengthy past. The 150+-acre ranch is alleged to have been a hideout for crime boss Al Capone and his associates in the 1920’s. The notorious Chicago gangster built the original home in 1923.  Capone also took the name of Al Brown and lived in a tiny home in West Jupiter off Italian Farms Road (now Jupiter Farms Road).  West Jupiter and West Palatka were the moonshine capitals of the world when Capone was in Jupiter.  Capone preferred spending time in Miami, near the action and the beach.  The Chicago mob boss moved south to Miami in 1928 and acquired a beachfront home.  Capone died in South Florida in 1947.
