The Town of Jupiter and the Village of Tequesta are nestled between Palm Beach Gardens and Stuart. Both areas cater to the outdoor style, as they wrap around the Loxahatchee River and Intracoastal Waterway, which provide incomparable views to residents. For this reason, water sports and boating are abundant. Jupiter and Tequesta also offer their share of championship golf courses and pristine beaches frequented often under consistently sunny skies.

Fishing Report 8.15.14

OFFSHORE:
Wahoo- the beautiful, tasty, and lightning-fast ocean fish have been showing up in good numbers around Palm Beach and Broward County. Wahoo’s are plentiful in Florida waters this time of year, with the best bite always occurring around the full moon in August. The greatest chance for a wahoo good time is to fish early morning or evening time of the day. Whether you are trolling (high speed and slower speeds) or live baiting for the wahoo be sure to try and get the bait down suspended below the surface, this will help get the baits down in the wahoo’s zone and will help keep a Bonita or two away.

The population of the Jupiter area was 145. In 1905 Reverend Dr. Charles P. Jackson started an elementary school for the children of Neptune (Jupiter).  Neptune was the designation for the area and the post office along the Florida East Coast Railroad.   Lighthouse keeper, James Armour, opened the Jupiter Post Office during 1884.  After three years of inactivity, Mary Moore Carlin reopened the Post Office in 1887 at the Jupiter Lifesaving Station, where her husband, Charles Carlin was the keeper.

The good people of this area converted a lifeboat from the battleship U.S.S. Maine and it served as a “school bus” for the children.  Later a ferry service across the Loxahatchee River transported the children until a bridge replaced it in 1911 when a…

The last portion of the U.S. Route 1 Bridge over the Loxahatchee River in Jupiter FL, which is a favorite spot for snorkelers and once the location of a scene on national television show, is expected to be demolished this fall and replaced with an aluminum decked fishing pier.

The concrete bridge off of U.S. 1 that was built in 1927, allowed motorists to drive on U.S. 1 from Juno Beach to Hobe Sound. The middle section of that bridge was torn out when the new twice as tall U.S. 1 drawbridge opened in 1958. The section of the old bridge on the north side of the Loxahatchee River was torn down in 2010, leaving only a chunk of the South section, which has been used as a fishing bridge ever since.

Fishing was the not only activity on that section of the 20…

Tucked into the northernmost corner of Palm Beach County is the beautiful waterfront Town of Jupiter.  Jupiter is blessed with an abundance of water and natural beauty.  Its small town charm is enhanced by the historic Jupiter Lighthouse, which has stood protectively overlooking the Jupiter Inlet for more than 150 years.  To the east lies miles of sandy white Atlantic Ocean beaches with turquoise blue waters.  To the west is “the wild and scenic Loxahatchee River” thought to be one of the last remaining wild river ways in the nation.

Fishing Report 8.1.14

It is looking like a pretty nice weekend ahead. Possibly a few scattered thunderstorms to deal with and hopefully just enough south/southeast breeze to help get some fish fired up!

OFFSHORE- Dolphin fishing should improve by this weekend if the weather forecast stays true, usual light west winds have most of the dolphin beyond way offshore; so a little southeast wind should help get some dolphin pushed back in a little closer.
Kingfish have started to show back up with the building moon. The usual August kingfish school is starting to stack up off of Jupiter, along the 120’ ledge.  In Miami-Dade reefs, the Kingfish bite is on fire.
Wahoo action was scattered this week, but a few were brought in. Expect the wahoo to improve as the…
