“Mardi Gras,” is French for “Fat Tuesday.”  Fat Tuesday is the last day before Lent. Lent is the season of fasting and prayer observed by most Christian denominations in the forty days leading up to Easter. A time for carefree celebration, Mardi Gras traditionally served to balance out the solemnity of the days that follow. To prepare for Lent, religious people emptied their pantries of indulgences like eggs, lard, and sugar. Using up the supplies as it was frowned upon by many Christian denominations during the 40-day Lenten fast. Therefore, a big part of Fat Tuesday is eating an abundance of delicious fried food—especially donuts, cakes, and pastries.

Carmine’s Gourmet Market opened the flagship market in 1988 as an epicurean marketplace opened in Palm Beach Gardens. The Gourmet Market grew with new offerings such as fresh meats and seafood, deli items, and authentic Italian brick-oven pizza. People drove for miles to see the new unique market. The shop flourished and it quickly became a local favorite. The proprietors brew Belgium beer right here in Palm Beach County. Several years ago, this group of friends started traveling to Belgium to see how their beloved beers were made. We Rock the Spectrum Kid's Gym in Tequesta is an amazing indoor play space! This exceedingly clean and sociable kids’ gym is full of fun things for all children.
