TRADER JOE’S to open PALM BEACH GARDENS

Trader Joe's, a privately held California based specialty chain of grocery stores, will open its first Palm Beach County store in the PGA Plaza and Prosperity Farms Road in Palm Beach Gardens sometime in 2014.  Trader Joe’s will be located in the southwest corner of the plaza, just west of the Marshall’s department store. The structure will be demolished and rebuilt to accommodate the 12,500 square foot market.        

 

People unfamiliar with Trader Joe’s will enjoy the laid-back vibe, cedar planked walls and Hawaiian shirts worn by employees.  The name “trader” reflects the company’s search for quirky and unique items that are good values.  They understand the importance of covering a range of options for the consumer when it comes to grocery…

FUNDS NEEDED FOR JUNO BEACH 9/11 MEMORIAL

The Juno Beach Town Council are in the initial planning stages to erect a 9/11 memorial.  An estimated $50,000 will be required to accomplish the task.  Well-known West Palm Beach sculpture/artist Mark Fuller has been selected by the Juno Beach Town Council to create the memorial sculpture.
 
Fuller is an industrial designer and has many pieces of his art on display.    The “Butterfly”, at PGA Commons on PGA Boulevard, is a very prominent and beautiful piece.   He has created 16 pieces of art for the city of Palm Beach Gardens through an ordinance passed in 1989 that requires developers of non-residential projects with construction costs of at least $1million to contribute 1 percent of the project cost to install city…

Jupiter Inlet Colony Is In The Golf Capital

Jupiter Inlet Colony is a quaint community located at the southern most tip of Jupiter Island. It was recently named the safest community in the state of Florida by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. In addition to being the safest place to live in the state, Jupiter Inlet Colony also offers its residents some of the best golf in the country.

ABACOA’S FIRST HOTEL UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Good news for Jupiter area residents and visitors of the "golf capital of the world", a beautiful Courtyard Marriot hotel is now under construction in the Abacoa community!  Construction for the 128-room hotel began on April 24.  It is scheduled to open in February, 2014 and slated to include 2,500 square feet of event space, a bistro style restaurant, a Starbucks coffee shop, full service-bar, state of the art fitness center, outdoor swimming pool, business center, and guest laundry. There will be street level commercial space for lease and parking will be handled by an existing parking garage adjacent to the hotel.

People across South Florida woke up to cooler temperatures today, low to mid 60’s!  The National Weather Service is predicting cooler evening temperatures to last through the middle of the week through Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast.   These temperatures would be a perfect opportunity for you to get a garden project started.

Try to grow an herb garden this time of year. You will not believe the exquisite flavor that one fresh heirloom herb can bring to your kitchen and meals. If you have grown herbs before, or are growing some now, try a new one.  They are easy.  Start from seeds, seedling, or plant.  Put in the ground, flowerbox, or beautiful pots.

THEY’RE BACK! IT’S SEA TURTLE SEASON

Our area is unlike any other and they are just like us. They cannot get enough of our natural, undisturbed beaches and neither can we!  Its sea turtle season and one of the most exciting times of the year for sea turtle lovers.  Every year thousands of sea turtle dig nests on John D. MacArthur Beach State Park in North Palm Beach, making it one of the highest density nesting beaches in Florida.

The season actually started in late March when the Leatherback sea turtles make their first appearance of the year. Then in April, our most abundant nesters, the Loggerhead sea turtles (Waterfront Properties favorite and insignia) appear. Winner's Circle Charities to Host 12th Annual Fishing Tournament

For the 12th consecutive year, hall of fame third baseman Mike Schmidt will be holding his annual fishing tournament at Old Bahama Bay to benefit cystic fibrosis.

Since the inception of the event, the Winners Circle Charities have raised more than $1.5 million toward cystic fibrosis research. For the second straight year, Steve Moynihan and HMY Yachts has partnered with Schmidt for the fishing tournament.

Waterfront Properties managing partner and Admirals Cove resident Rob Thomson is one of the committee members again this year and will be participating in the weekend fishing tournament.  Some of the other people participating on the committee this year are Debbie Weinstein, the mother of Brett Weinstein, who the charity was originally started for.…

It’s only a matter of days until the largest waterfront music and art festival, SunFest 2013, opens its gates on May 1st. and continue through Sunday, May 5th.   SunFest takes place along the West Palm Beach Intracoastal Waterway on Flagler Drive between Banyan Boulevard to Lakeview Avenue.  SunFest is a premiere event showcasing top musical talents.  This year’s lineup includes Train, Smashing Pumpkins, The Black Crows, The Offspring, Boz Scaggs, Phillip Phillips, Slightly Stoopid, Cheap Trick, Bear Naked Ladies, and many more.  Over 165 artists are drawn to the art and craft show from around the nation.
