The Town of Jupiter and the Village of Tequesta are nestled between Palm Beach Gardens and Stuart. Both areas cater to the outdoor style, as they wrap around the Loxahatchee River and Intracoastal Waterway, which provide incomparable views to residents. For this reason, water sports and boating are abundant. Jupiter and Tequesta also offer their share of championship golf courses and pristine beaches frequented often under consistently sunny skies.

Beginning in early November, Palm Beach County began hauling 200,000 cubic yards of beach sand for a beach renourishment project south of the Jupiter Inlet at Carlin Park.  Approximately 120 truckloads of sand will be delivered from a mine in Port St. Lucie daily.  The trucks will travel via I-95 to Indiantown Road to a staging area at Carlin Park, 400 A1A, Jupiter, during off peak hours to avoid impacts on traffic and morning rush hour.

Palm Beach County Tourist Development Tax and the State of Florida fund the $5.5 million renourishment beach project.  The sand will be placed along 3,500 feet of beach front and 200,000 dune plants will be planted.  Work on the beach project will take place between sunrise…

Far back inshore of the Intracoastal Waterway of Tequesta, Florida, a flats boat was anchored up in the north fork of the Loxahatchee river, right next to the Tequesta Bridge, where anglers were just casually fishing.

Normally, back in the Loxahatchee River, fishermen are more likely to hook up on a Jack crevalle, a lady fish or even a snook, where the saltwater is brackish, shallow and murky. On the other hand, sometimes the waters may have you guessing on what you’re reeling in.

A couple weeks ago, Captain Joe Kelly, informed me that his friend’s son was casually fishing along the north fork of the river, when he reeled in a fish he couldn’t even imagine to catch inshore. The kid saw a blaze of bright colors of mixed blues, deep green and yellow. Can…

Florida’s pioneers of surfing actually date back to the 1930’s with a few Virginia Beach lifeguards who rented concession stands at the beach and demonstrated the sport of surfing using Hawaiian surfboards.  A couple of native Florida guys were belly boarding in Miami Beach and a couple others scattered across the Southern part of the state.  After WWII, active military bases, with service members familiar with using boards for military purposes, settled down and became surfers.

In the early sixties, when surfing began to become very popular in South Florida “Delray was the epicenter of surfing in Palm Beach County, maybe even the entire east coast of Florida” according to Palm Beach County Surf History…

Fishing Report 11.07.14

The weather forecast in the southeast region of Florida for this weekend may leave the ocean on the rougher side. As for Friday and Saturday, it will be the nicer of the days and Sunday will pick up some breeze and cause the marine forecast to be a bit bumpier. That being said it is predicted to be a fishy weekend!

OFFSHORE-
The north winds will be in the forecast causing the sailfish action! Search for the best action to be between 150’-300’ if your out of both Palm Beach and Jupiter inlets for the sailfish. Around the same areas, Dolphin fishing has been really good and showing up in great numbers along with a mixed assortment of other decent size fish. Kite fishing with live blue runners should definitely produce some hard bites…
