On August 25th, 2018, Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse will be hosting a moonrise tour to view the full moon from the top of the lighthouse.

On this day, the moon will be in “Waxing Gibbous” phase, meaning it is more than 50% illuminated but not yet a full moon, with the complete full moon actually happening at 7:56 am the next morning.  However, the moon will be high in the eastern sky around sunset, and will be 99% illuminated, providing for an all-around picturesque view.

According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, the August full moon is called the Sturgeon Moon because sturgeon (a type of northern fish) are more easily caught in August during this moon. Hopefully, in true South Florida style, the stars will align and lucky fisherman will be calling this…

Coffee With A Cop is an ongoing community event when residents are invited to meet the Jupiter Police Department officers and enjoy free coffee and donuts. This is an opportunity to discuss local events and ask questions about the Town of Jupiter.

The next Coffee With A Cop will take place on October 11th, 2018 at Jupiter Community Center located at 200 Military Trail at 9:00 AM.

This is free to residents, and no registration is required.

On the last Thursday of the month, the Creative Arts School at the Old School Square in Delray Beach invites local residents to join a social night called Canvas & Cocktails where you can create a masterpiece and enjoy an evening of fellowship.

The classes are from 7-9 p.m. and costs $36 all-inclusive. In a nice relaxed atmosphere, you can do some therapy painting while sipping on a glass of wine, craft beer or cocktails. An instructor will teach the class step-by-step so your painting will be something amazing. There's calming music in the background and the Cornell Art Museum is open to explore. It's the perfect date night, girls night out or group get together.

The Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum is hosting a sunset tour on August 15th, 2018 at 7:30 pm. There’s no view quite like a Jupiter sunset from the top of the lighthouse, and participants get to witness the original light turning on to illuminate the night sky as well as an inside look at the interworkings of the lighthouse watchroom.

The tour will be for about 75 minutes, and is required pre-purchased tickets are $20 per person or $15 for lighthouse members. You may purchase them by calling 561-747-8380 X101.

Sharks are impressive creatures that have fascinated people for ages, though they're often misunderstood due to Hollywood films like Jaws. Did you know sharks have been around for 400 million years and there are actually 450 different species of sharks? You can learn all about them and watch the predators chomp in action at the Sandoway Discovery Center public feedings.

Every Tuesday- Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and Sundays at 1:30 p.m., sharks and rays at the center are fed, which makes for a super cool show. The center has resident nurse sharks, cownose rays and bat rays. Their exhibits are creative, educational and often interactive. If you’re looking to have some fun but don’t care about putting food on the table, catch and release snook have been the main event this week inshore, at the Juno Pier, along the beach, and Palm Beach Inlet has been pretty solid. Live croaker should get the job done during the day, and if you’re looking to do some night fishing, Juno Bait Shop should be able to help you out with some flair hawk jigs. Snook season starts September 1st, so hold off on harvesting them until then!
