Two words sum up the fishing forecast this weekend: Full Moon. Stronger currents around big tides from the full moon turn on the feeding switch for most fish in South Florida, so you’d be doing yourself a disservice if you turn down fishing this weekend.

The wahoo bite has been well-documented to peak before and after a full moon, so local favorite Junkanoo Lures has barely been able to keep up with orders, and says you should see a lot of zigzag high-speed trolling going on offshore during the outgoing tide. Black/Purple and Black/Red color combos are recommended by Juno Bait Shop during lowlight periods, while Blue/White and Pink/White should be good when the sun is higher. If you like art, you definitely need to participate in the Delray Beach monthly art walk. It's a self-guided tour of Delray's finest art districts, allowing you to meet local designers and discover works of all kinds.

The art walk takes place on the first Friday of every month from 6-9 p.m. You go at your own pace and stop at the spots on the map in whatever order you want. Delray is a hotspot for art, culture, entertainment and great food, so exploring the city in such a way is an awesome experience.

The Responsible Pier Initiative is a Florida program designed to promote a healthy pier environment for sea turtles and other marine life with the cooperation of fisherman. The three components of the Responsible Pier Initiative include providing first responders with necessary training and resources to effectively respond to sea turtle injuries and strandings, installation of educational signage on fishing piers, and underwater cleaning beneath piers and surrounding areas on a regular basis.

The Palm Beach County Women’s Tennis Association (PBCWTA) is preparing for women’s tennis league matches to begin on October 16th with a pro luncheon on September 24th at Mirasol Country Club. Tennis Directors and Tennis Pros will meet to represent each club and speak about the coming season.

The 2018/19 league consists of 7 divisions and one open division. Matches begin on October 16th and run through April of 2019.

Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches is a local member of the national organization that brings meals to elderly people in need. Meals on Wheels of the Palm Beaches predominantly served southern Palm Beach County when it was formed, but over recent years it has expanded to the north and is now serving residents in Jupiter as of this month.

The local organization currently has 15 people in Jupiter who will receive meals and serves more than 200 people in the county aged 65+. Sixty percent of these people are over the age of 85.
