Mangroves line estuaries and canals, providing food, shelter, and hunting grounds for animals.

Mangroves also provide shoreline protection from wind, waves, and erosion. This ecosystem occurs in tidally influenced areas where strong ocean wave action is absent and where salt and freshwater mix. Soils are sandy, nutrient-rich, saline, and usually oxygen deficient. This plant system diversity provides one of the…

You may have seen it mentioned in countless Palm Beach County luxury listings or you know friends or family members who cannot live without one. You may have one yourself without even knowing it, but what exactly is a “chef’s kitchen”? In real estate listings and advertisements, the term is used often and loosely, without any real objective meaning. However, there are certain features, standards, and appliances that raise the bar and elevate a normal kitchen into the range of what a real chef would want and need.

Chef’s kitchens tend to be large spaces with an open floor plan, good traffic flow, and room for multiple…

As they say, “a day late and a dollar short,” but in fact, we are years and years too late! Read on and be astonished about what you could buy for $1.00 back in the day. In 1821, land in Jupiter was sold for just $1.00 an acre! Florida became a formal state of the colonies in 1821 and a property-owner named Don Eusebio Gomez considered releasing acreage he owned.

In 1815, the King and Queen of Spain had awarded Don Eusebio Gomez 12,000 acres. The land was an area bordering the Indian and Loxahatchee Rivers, as well as a barrier island between the Jupiter Inlet and the St. Lucie Inlet.

The granted land to Gomez was for his “services to the crown.”  He was a merchant/shipper and a defender of St. Augustine. When Florida became a U.S. territory all…
