Today is the first official day of the month of March and to many, March is a sign of spring and warmer temperatures especially those in the North. Luckily for us living in South Florida, the mild warmer temperature year-round makes it feel like spring and summer every day.

March is the third month of the calendar year and the month was named for the Roman god of war, Mars. In the early Roman calendar, March was the first month of the calendar year. Many years later, March became the third month after January and February were added.

Sunday, March 14th marks the start of Daylight Savings Time which begins at 2 am. Set your clocks an hour ahead during the Spring and Summer months.

The flower of March is a daffodil. The most popular colors used in March are white, and light blue.

Those born in the month of March have two birthstones, aquamarine and bloodstone which symbolizes courage and two zodiac signs Pisces (February 20th – March 20th) and Aries (March 21st – April 20th).

The first day of Spring 2021 is Saturday, March 20th. The sun signs on the equator for the Vernal Equinox giving us a near 50/50 spilt of day and night.

Every year, the month of March and June end on the same day of the week.

Saint Patrick’s Day is celebrated every March 17th.

The month of March is National Umbrella Month.
