Palm Beach County is home to over 125 miles of waterways and what better way than to grab a boat and head to some of the county’s most popular sandbars.

Throughout certain times of the day, the tide lowers and creates a natural sand bar along the intracoastal for boaters to stop. Here you’ll find friends, neighbors and the community gathering together along the sandbar for hours at a time enjoying the sand and sun.

Here are some of the most popular sandbars in the area.

The Jupiter/Tequesta Sandbar:
The sandbar is located along the Loxahatchee River, a little north of the Jupiter Inlet and Intracoastal. On any given weekday or weekend throughout the year, the popular sandbar is certainly the place to be and hang out for the day. The sandbar boosts views of the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and the eastern end of the sandbar is a great spot for snorkeling especially during the summer months.

The Peanut Island Sandbar:
Peanut Island is located near the Palm Beach Inlet in the middle of the Lake Worth Lagoon. The island was formed from piles of sand from dredging projects and today the island in the middle of the water is a popular spot for boaters and those who love the water. The northern part of the island is great for boaters to dock and for those who want to snorkel with views of marinas and Palm Beach. Peanut Island is large enough to have a picnic area, restrooms, an observation deck, campgrounds, pathways, and beach frontage.

Boca Raton Sandbar:
The popular area attracts a large number of boaters every year for the ultimate party on the water, the Boca Bash every spring. The sandbar is located where part of the intracoastal goes through Lake Boca Raton. The narrow strip of land is surrounded by water and homes and condos. The sand bar is knee deep at low tide for many and is the place to see to enjoy the sun and island atmosphere.
